MORE EXPENSIVE AND OVERREACHING GOVERNMENT

(Below is part of a radio commentary Cal Thomas did yesterday. )

THE TRUTH IS THAT LIBERALS ADDICT PEOPLE TO THEIR PROGRAMS IN ORDER TO GAIN THEIR VOTES. IF THEY WERE EVER TO SUCCEED, THEY WOULD NO LONGER NEED GOVERNMENT. THAT’S THE DIRTY LITTLE SECRET BEHIND LIBERALISM AND THE CHOICE ON TUESDAY WILL BE BETWEEN MORE EXPENSIVE AND OVERREACHING GOVERNMENT AND MORE FREEDOM. DON’T BE FOOLED.

(Cal is right. People need less of Uncle Sam not more from him. Read the whole radio commentary October 30, 2008 or listen to it here.)

The Election is about the High Court

With the upcoming elections 8 days away, satan has worked hard to deflect attention off of the real issue.  This has been relatively easy through the economic meltdown and an unpopular war.  Many Americans, including Christians, will vote based on these two issues.  While these things are obviously important, they pale in light of the real issue-the Supreme Court.

The cover story of USA Today, on Thursday of last week, spelled this out quite clearly. It stated that the real legacy of the next president won't be the economy or the war, but the Supreme Court.  The next president of the United States will appoint at least 2, and maybe 3, Justices in his first term.  If he serves 2 terms, it could be 5 Justices-there are 5 of the 9 on the Court 70 years old or older!  Since the trend is to appoint younger and younger Justices, the next president will most likely shape the court for the next 30-40 years! This means we are not voting only for a president, we are voting for the Court we want for the next generation! The vote we cast on November 4th will do more to shape the culture we give our children and grandchildren than any other vote of our lifetime!

The first two Justices to go will almost certainly be Stevens who is 88 years old and Ginsberg who is 75 and ill.  They are the two most liberal and are no doubt waiting to retire, hoping for a president that will replace them with 2 more liberals.  These two replacements alone, if they are good, conservative judges could shift the Court toward righteousness for many years.

(The above is part of an email sent out by Dutch Sheets. Obama will give us judges who will make laws while McCain will give us judges who will follow the rule of law.  If you like to read the whole email go here .)

Obama's Dangerous Alignments

Last week an enemy of the United States spoke out and endorsed an American presidential candidate – Senator Barack Obama. Taken with other recent developments, voters should be deeply disturbed with this embrace of Mr. Obama’s campaign to become the U.S. commander- in-chief.

Ali Larijani is the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, and was Iran’s representative to the United Nations (see his picture below)who kept that international body from taking action regarding Iran’s program to expand its nuclear capabilities. On October 22, Speaker Larijani said that the regime in Iran would like to see Mr. Obama elected president.

Mr. Larijani is not the first hostile foreign leader to endorse or be aligned with Mr. Obama.

In April, top Hamas advisor Ahmed Yousef also endorsed Mr. Obama. Mr. Obama’s long-time associate and self-described Marxist, Bill Ayers, actively backs him. Mr. Obama’s mentor and two-decade long spiritual leader, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, traveled to Libya to meet with the controversial Moammar Gadhafi. His church published a pro-Hamas piece on Rev. Wright’s “Pastor’s Page.” The article defended terrorism against Israel and denied Israel’s right to exist.

Terrorist leaders never endorsed Bill Clinton, or Al Gore, or John Kerry. And to the best of my knowledge, terrorist leaders have never publicly supported a major party presidential nominee—until now.

There’s more. The L.A. Times has video of Barack Obama toasting an anti-Israel activist associated with the Palestinians, and standing by as an anti-Semitic poem was read. We don’t know the details, because the L.A. Times—which has endorsed Mr. Obama—refuses to allow anyone to see the video.

( Read the rest   Ken Blackwell's powerful column.  We better know who we might be getting as our next President.)

McCain beating Obama in Israel

An Israeli pollster says that if the country were on the U.S. election map, it would be bright red. (  Survey: shows McCain beating Obama in Israel - )

A survey of Americans in the Holy Land released Thursday found that absentee voters supported Republican John McCain over Barack Obama by a three-to-one margin.

The survey interviewed 817 Americans who have cast absentee ballots for next week's presidential election. It was conducted by Vote from Israel, a nonpartisan group that has encouraged Americans to vote.

An estimated 40,000 Americans living in Israel are expected to vote.

(It looks like the people of Israel understand something that I hope most of  the American voters will see come Tuesday, we need a leader who is committed to see the 911 war finished with victory.)

Voting and Praying

I have been trying to post the following video over on You Tube since Tuesday so I thought I would post the written copy here.
This coming Tuesday, November 4th is election day. Do you know who you are going to vote for and are you basing that on who you think would be best for the nation and their views. Or are you basing on how a great speaker he is, or which candidate makes you feel better, or who will do the most for you. If you are going to vote for  a candidate and don’t know their views you should stay home on election day. You see I am one who doesn’t think it is great that we have more voters what we need are more informed voters.

Those of you who are people of faith I want ask you if you aren’t already to join me in praying for America and this election. No matter who you are supporting. God is the one who puts people in office and removes people from it, and keeps others from getting into office. Our power is limited at the voting booth but God’s power and the power of prayer has no power.

Don’t pray for one candidate or another to win. Pray for all those running for office. Pray the majority of voters will think about the safety Of America, our war with radical Islam, the moral  issues such as the right to life, and same sex marriage. Pray we will get the leadership we need not the leadership we deserve.

Pray above all that no matter what the people of God will keep their focus on a King and Kingdom not of this world. Pray for a spiritual change which has to come from God. No man or political party can start it or stop a God ordained spiritual change.

2 Chronicles 7:14  says  if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Homeowners Pull Down Sarah Palin Effigy

An effigy of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been taken down from a West Hollywood home, after the homeowner discussed the situation with the city's mayor. (  Homeowners Pull Down Sarah Palin Effigy )

The mannequin hanging by a noose was part of a larger Halloween display that included an effigy of John McCain coming out of the chimney surrounded by fake flames. The display has drawn national attention and a visit from the Secret Service, which decided there was no threat.

Earlier in the afternoon, neighbors covered up the Palin mannequin with sheets, in what was described as a friendly protest.

(It is an outrage that this was done. If this had been done to Obama we would be hearing all kinds of  upset people but this can be done to a lady from the right. At least this sick and evil display has been removed. Good for those who took action.)

McCain campaign accuses L.A. Times of 'suppressing' Obama video

John McCain's presidential campaign  ( McCain campaign accuses L.A. Times of 'suppressing' Obama video )Tuesday accused the Los Angeles Times of "intentionally suppressing" a videotape it obtained of a 2003 banquet where then-state Sen. Barack Obama spoke of his friendship with Rashid Khalidi, a leading Palestinian scholar and activist.

The Times first reported on the videotape in an April 2008 story about Obama's ties with Palestinians and Jews as he navigated the politics of Chicago. The report included a detailed description of the tape, but the newspaper did not make the video public.
In reporting on Obama's presence at the dinner for Khalidi, the article noted that some speakers expressed anger at Israel and at U.S. foreign policy, but that Obama in his comments called for finding common ground.

(So would Obama would go to a KKK  banquet and call for common ground. The LA Times should  release this tape ASAP. We should demand they do that. This makes me pretty sure the LA Times wants Obama to be our leader. This paper has no problem publishing other things but not something which would help the truth about the man who might be our next President.)

DOLPHINS owner wants to sell before Obama raises capital gains tax;

Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga said Sunday no date has been set for selling up to 45 percent more of the team to Stephen Ross, but the presidential election is among the issues weighing on his decision. ( Huizenga aim: Sell at '07 capital-gains tax level  )

That's because a Barack Obama administration is expected to mean higher capital-gains taxes.

"He wants to double the capital gains tax, or almost double it," Huizenga said. "I'd rather give it to charity than to him."

(I don't blame Mr. Huizenga at all. I have heard of others who are not as well known who are scared about will happen to taxes if Mr. Obama is put in the White House. I hope the American voters will think about what will happen to their taxes if Mr. Obama is our next President.)

Most extreme proabortion

Professor Robert P. George of Princeton University has been looking at the
record of Sen. Barack Obama. His verdict? Obama is, “the most extreme proabortion
candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States.”

Further: “He is the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either
house of the United States Congress.”
Those are huge claims, but Professor George backs them up with solid
evidence.

NBA: Tolliver earned spurs, but heart now aches

Creighton coach Dana Altman recalls Donna Lewis bubbling with pride in July as they watched her son, Anthony Tolliver, play in a professional summer basketball league in Las Vegas.

"We watched two games together," Altman said. "She was so excited for Anthony. She had just retired, and she had planned to spend time following Anthony, whether he was in the NBA or playing overseas."

Lewis won't get that opportunity. She died Thursday of an apparent heart attack in Springfield, Mo. She was 56.

Her death came on the same day that Tolliver, a former Creighton star, officially learned that he made the San Antonio Spurs' roster.
"Anthony's devastated," said Larry Fox, Tolliver's agent. "I've talked to him but what can you say? There are no magical words that you can say that can make this make sense.

"I got to know his mother, and she was one of the nicest ladies you'd ever meet. She was well-respected in the community. I spoke with her regularly, and I could hear the pride in her voice whenever she talked about Anthony."

Fox said the Spurs, who open the regular season this week, have given Tolliver a leave of absence.

"They've been very classy," Fox said. "They called right away to ask what needs to be done. They said they were willing to help Anthony any way possible. They're going to give him whatever time he needs to get through this. They're not even thinking about the basketball part of it.

( It looks to me like this mother was a MAD Mother= Make A. Difference Mother. It is also nice to see a NBA team put something like the death of a love one ahead of basketball. I have always liked the way the Spurs do things. May God Bless them for that. Read more of the above story right here.)

In McCain’s Uphill Battle, Winning Is an Option

Senator John McCain woke Thursday morning to what has become a fairly common greeting in these tough last weeks of his campaign. A raft of polls showing him well behind. Early post-mortems on his candidacy. Even Republicans speaking of him in the past tense.

But is it really over?

As Mr. McCain enters this closing stretch, his aides — as well as some outside Republicans and even a few Democrats — argue that he still has a viable path to victory.

“The McCain campaign is roughly in the position where Vice President Gore was running against President Bush one week before the election of 2000,” said Steve Schmidt, Mr. McCain’s chief strategist. “We have ground to make up, but we believe we can make it up.”

“It’s an uphill battle,” said Karl Rove, who was the chief strategist for President Bush going back to Mr. Bush’s first run for governor in 1994. “But I remember seven days out from the Texas gubernatorial race, and everybody was like, ‘It’s all over, we’re cooked!’ And we won by seven points.”

Here are what Mr. McCain’s advisers are watching hopefully (and Mr. Obama’s are watching warily) as the contest enters its final days.

Mr. McCain’s advisers said the key to victory was reeling back those Republican states where Mr. Obama has them on the run: Florida, where Mr. McCain spent Thursday; Indiana; Missouri; North Carolina; Ohio; and Virginia. If he can hang on to all those states as well as others that are reliably red, he would put into his column 260 of the 270 electoral votes necessary to win. Mr. McCain’s advisers said they would look for the additional electoral votes they need either by taking Pennsylvania from the Democrats, or putting together some combination of Colorado, Nevada, New Hampshire and New Mexico.

Two issues have turned up in the final days, courtesy of some inopportune remarks by Mr. Obama and his running mate, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware. Both have entered the campaign dialogue, and it is probably a little too early to tell whether they will have the impact that Mr. McCain hopes they will.

The first was Mr. Obama’s response to the plumber in Ohio who asked about his proposal to increase income tax rates on households making over $250,000 a year, in which Mr. Obama asserted that there was a need to “spread the wealth.” Mr. McCain seized on the response to reprise the he-will-raise-your-taxes attack that has historically had resonance in states like Florida, Iowa and New Hampshire. “We believe we have traction with the tax issue,” said Charlie Black, a senior adviser to Mr. McCain.

The other was Mr. Biden’s prediction that a foreign power would test Mr. Obama with a crisis in the first months of his presidency. That remark goes to what has been the heart of Mr. McCain’s argument about the need for the next president to have experience in handling high-stakes situations. No one in Mr. Obama’s campaign is disputing the potential damage from Mr. Biden’s remark, but they hope it will be offset by the endorsement of Mr. Obama by Colin L. Powell, the former secretary of state, on Sunday.

(It is not over yet. Yes it will be hard but I believe if McCain does what he should do the American people will see what they will get with Obama in the White House. It is not over until the fat lady sings. Read more of the above story  In McCain’s Uphill Battle, Winning Is an Option.)

50 Teens Exposed to HIV

Students at a suburban St. Louis high school headed to the gymnasium for HIV testing this week after an infected person told health officials as many as 50 teenagers might have been exposed to the virus that causes AIDS. (Up to 50 Teens Exposed to HIV at Missouri High School -  )

A teacher in a neighboring district singled out a girl who dates someone at Normandy High and instructed her to get tested, Hochstedler said. A competing school's football team initially balked at playing Normandy's 8-0 team.

Marcus Holman, a 14-year-old freshman, said he never imagined HIV would become such a widespread threat at school.

"I'm just trying to pass, get to the next grade, safely," he said.

(It is sad that today's high school students have to worry about this. However this is what we get for letting value free sex education in our culture and in at least some government schools. I hope in your home you are teaching young people value and Bible based sex education.)
